Head of Department’s Statement
Welcome to the Department of Special Needs Education at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The department is dedicated to promoting inclusive education and addressing the diverse needs of individuals with disabilities, supported by the commitment of its faculty and staff. The department’s research and teaching philosophy focuses on infusing creativity and critical thinking into education, equipping educators with innovative approaches to teaching and learning. A variety of programs are offered to prepare educators and specialists in the field. The department offers a four-Year standard Undergraduate programme with specialized combinations, including:

· Special Education/English
· Special Education/History
· Special Education/Igbo Studies
· Special Education/Social Studies
In addition to undergraduate programs, the department also offers advanced degrees such as Master’s, Master/PhD, and PhD in Special Needs Education. These programs allow for specialization based on individual areas of interest or research focus within the field.
